Ghajini follows the tragic and intense journey of Sanjay Singhania, a powerful and wealthy businessman whose life is shattered by a brutal attack that leaves him with an unusual condition: anterograde amnesia. Unable to create new memories that last longer than fifteen minutes, Sanjay wakes up each day confused, forced to piece together his existence through notes, photographs, and tattoos that cover his body. These markings are not just reminders of his past — they are clues guiding him toward a single mission: to find and kill the man responsible for destroying his life.
Before his memory loss, Sanjay had fallen deeply in love with Kalpana, a warm-hearted model who believed he was an ordinary man named Sachin. Their relationship grew in a charming and humorous way, with Kalpana unknowingly dating one of the country’s most influential tycoons. Sanjay kept his true identity hidden to experience a simple, genuine love. However, Kalpana’s kindness and courage brought her into conflict with Ghajini, a ruthless criminal running a human trafficking network. Her attempt to save young girls from danger placed a target on her back.

Sanjay’s world collapsed the night Kalpana was murdered by Ghajini. Sanjay tried to intervene, but he was violently attacked, beaten, and left with severe brain damage that caused his memory condition. With his life torn apart, he began documenting every detail related to the killer, tattooing Ghajini’s name, address, and clues across his chest and arms so he would never forget his purpose.
Despite his inability to remember even the people helping him, Sanjay’s determination pushes him forward. A medical student named Sunita becomes curious about his condition and unintentionally uncovers the truth about his mission. Though she tries to warn him of the danger, Sanjay’s focus cannot be stopped. His fragmented memory creates confusion and vulnerability, yet also fuels his relentless rage, making every confrontation unpredictable and intense.

As he gets closer to Ghajini, Sanjay faces numerous obstacles: sudden memory lapses, dangerous traps, and the emotional weight of reliving Kalpana’s death through his notes. His condition forces him to fight battles repeatedly, each time as if for the first time. Yet his love for Kalpana remains the only constant, driving him beyond his limits.
The film reaches its climax when Sanjay finally confronts Ghajini in a brutal and emotional showdown. Though his memory may be broken, his resolve is not. In defeating Ghajini, Sanjay finds a sense of peace, knowing he has honored Kalpana’s memory, even if he must rediscover that truth again and again.
