The Emoji Movie is a 2017 animated film directed by Tony Leondis that takes place inside a teenager’s smartphone, where emojis come to life in the digital city of Textopolis. Each app presents its own challenges, from dangerous antivirus bots to system crashes, creating a colorful and adventurous digital world.

As the trio explores the phone, Gene learns that being different is not something to hide. Jailbreak reveals that she once tried to break free from the limits placed on female emojis, inspiring Gene to accept his individuality. Meanwhile, in the real world, Alex’s phone starts malfunctioning because of the chaos inside, leading him to decide to erase all data—including the emojis themselves.
