The Silver Chair, the fourth installment in The Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis, follows the adventurous journey of two schoolchildren, Eustace Scrubb and Jill Pole, as they are transported to the magical land of Narnia. Sent on a mission by Aslan, the great lion, their task is to find and rescue Prince Rilian, the son of King Caspian, who disappeared years earlier while searching for the serpent that killed his mother.

Jill and Eustace begin their quest with the help of a strange and gloomy marsh-wiggle named Puddleglum. Together, they face harsh weather, dangerous terrain, and mysterious creatures. Early in their journey, they visit the giants of Harfang, who at first seem welcoming but later reveal a darker side. The trio narrowly escapes, learning to rely on Aslan’s signs and their own courage.

Their path eventually leads them underground into the deep and eerie realm of the Lady of the Green Kirtle, an evil sorceress who has enchanted Prince Rilian and kept him prisoner. Under her spell, Rilian has forgotten his true identity and is bound to obey her. Jill, Eustace, and Puddleglum must break the enchantment and remind him of who he really is before it’s too late.
One of the most powerful scenes in the story comes when Puddleglum defies the witch’s magic. Despite the overwhelming illusion she casts, he bravely stands his ground, declaring his belief in Aslan and the real Narnia. His bold action helps to shatter the spell over Rilian and allows the prince to finally fight back against his captor.

After defeating the witch and escaping the underworld, Rilian returns to Narnia and reunites with his father, though King Caspian dies shortly afterward due to old age. Aslan appears once more and rewards the children for their bravery, sending them safely back to their own world.
