The Wrong Paris (2025) is a romantic comedy film directed by Janeen Damian and written by Nicole Henrich. The main character, Dawn, is a young, ambitious artist from a small Texas town. She has been accepted into art school in Paris, France, but she lacks the funds to make her dream a reality. To help pay her tuition and living expenses, Dawn’s younger sister suggests she join a reality dating show called The Honeypot, believing the show is set in Paris, France, so that appearing on it will give Dawn both exposure and enough money to cover her needs.
Once Dawn auditions and is accepted for The Honeypot, she learns to her dismay that there’s a twist: the show is not being filmed in Paris, France as she had been led to believe, but in Paris, Texas—a place much closer to home than she expected. Dawn’s plan was simple: get on the show, collect the appearance fee, and then get eliminated early so she can keep her integrity, avoid unnecessary drama, and get her money to support her art schooling.
However, complications arise when Dawn meets Trey, the handsome bachelor of the show (played by Pierson Fodé). Before the show even begins in full force, Dawn and Trey have a flirtatious encounter. As the competition proceeds, Dawn tries to sabotage her chances so she can be eliminated, but the more time she spends around Trey and the other contestants, the more her feelings change. She begins to care about him genuinely, which conflicts with the original plan she made for herself.
A major turning point happens when Lexi, a rival contestant, discovers Dawn’s acceptance to art school and reveals Dawn’s true motive to Trey—that she initially joined The Honeypot for money, not for love. This betrayal hurts the trust between Dawn and Trey, and Dawn is eliminated from the show. Afterwards, Dawn does go to Paris, France to study. Even though she has been hurt, she is encouraged by Rachel, the show’s producer, to return for the finale; she gives up her winnings to do so. Her decision is meant to show sincerity. Trey eventually sees this act and realizes how much Dawn truly cares.
In the end, during the finale of the show, Dawn publicly rejects Trey on camera in order to secure the prize money, yet immediately after that, she kisses him—in effect, reuniting with him once the performance ends. The film closes on a hopeful note: Dawn gets to pursue her art school dreams in Paris, France, while also acknowledging a romantic future with Trey. Their relationship, complicated though it is by misunderstandings and ambition, suggests that love might be possible alongside personal goals.
